Alongside his extensive work behind the scenes, he created and voiced some of the series’ most recognizable and enduring characters, including Cleveland Brown, Herbert, Bruce, Consuela, and the Greased-Up Deaf Guy.

Mike later co-created and starred in The Cleveland Show, the Emmy-nominated Family Guy spin-off centered around the beloved Cleveland Brown character. The series premiered on FOX to strong ratings, ran for four seasons, and continues to find audiences worldwide through streaming and syndication.

Born in Pontiac, Michigan, and raised in Richmond, Virginia alongside his brother and longtime creative collaborator Patrick Henry, Mike graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1988. Shortly after beginning a successful career in advertising, he made the decision to leave corporate life behind and move to Los Angeles to pursue comedy full-time, a turning point that would ultimately shape the trajectory of modern television animation.

Following years of performing stand-up and improvisational comedy in Los Angeles, Mike returned to Virginia to independently create short comedy films with his brother Patrick. During this period, he was introduced to fellow RISD student Seth MacFarlane, beginning a creative partnership and friendship that would later become central to the success of Family Guy. Mike eventually relocated to New York City, where he studied at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre while producing, writing, directing, and starring in original comedy content for Burly Bear Network, founded by Lorne Michaels.

When Family Guy launched, Mike quickly became one of the show’s most important creative contributors, helping shape its comedic identity through writing, performance, and character creation. His work spans hundreds of episodes across writing rooms, voice sessions, story development, and production, contributing to the show’s status as one of the longest-running and most influential animated comedies in television history.

Beyond Family Guy and The Cleveland Show, Mike’s career has included acting and guest appearances across film and television, including roles in The Orville and Ted, as well as continued voice work on American Dad. He also hosts The Mike Henry Show podcast and recently launched  CrosseyedTV, a digital archive and comedy platform showcasing decades of work from Mike and the Henry Brothers, including original shorts, behind-the-scenes content, animation, and cult comedy projects such as  Kicked In The Nuts.

With a career spanning writing, acting, directing, producing, and voice performance, Mike Henry remains one of the defining comedic voices behind a generation of animated television.
